soul-full scuba in Bonaire
february 16 - 23, 2019
Let curiosity connect you with your passions
and the Sober Outside booze-free community on the Caribbean island of Bonaire
Welcome to our Bonaire escape. This quiet, natural island is one of our favorite places in the world for sanctuary and inspiration. If you're looking to connect with other sober women, we would like to invite you to join us on this trip, whether you are scuba certified, a happy snorkeler or a complete newcomer to the underwater world. All we ask is that you bring your curiosity. We'll explore the reefs, get curious about our passions and what holds us back from connecting with them to the fullest. And, of course, there will be ample time for yoga, watching the sunrise and sunset, breathing, slowing down and getting centered, all in this perfect slice of island paradise.
Bonaire, one of the best kept secrets in the Caribbean. The sea is so invitingly clear, so warm and yet so refreshing. For scuba divers, this island is pure magic. A place where coral reefs thrive, where every inch of these lush gardens packs massive brain corals, lavender sea fans and schools of blue Creole wrasse fish. It's a place where little wonders, including seahorses and frogfish, are easy finds. Underwater, this island remains unchanged for the past few decades thanks to marine protections. Every bit of its coastline has been a marine park since 1971.
For the past 24 years, I have been diving all over the world, and have found no place more pristine, more full of surprises than Bonaire. I can't wait to share it with you.
Scuba diving. It's the perfect metaphor for learning to step outside your comfort zone. Nobody was born to breathe underwater, and yet, it's an amazing, completely safe way to bring awe, gratitude and strength into your every day. Spend time on the reefs and you can't help but slow down. Maybe it's the moment you watch a sea turtle nibble on a sponge. Maybe it's feeling weightless for the first time, taking flight underwater. Regardless of how it happens, we trust that the ocean has the power to transform everyone who dares to venture in.
We'll spend the week connecting with the elements, with the Caribbean Sea just steps from our villa at Captain Don's Habitat. Every morning, start the day with an optional sunrise meditation, listening to the birds that call this tropical island home.
Breakfast every mornig at the resort is included, as is the day's diving. We'll be diving from boats that leave from our resort's dock.
Sober Outside is a travel community for sober adventurers. People who love adventure and are ready and excited to try new things. People who welcome travel experiences that are booze-free. People who want to continue on their path toward personal growth, expand their visions of what's possible in their lives, and welcome more love, acceptance, gratitude and awareness into their lives.
Note: We are not a detox or rehab program.
Our goal is to create community among those who have already committed to this lifestyle. If you identify as having a drinking problem and are new to sobriety, we support and encourage you! (Please message Sober Outside if there’s any way we can help.) And, we would love for you to join us once you’ve made a year.
