Exotic adventure in thailand
February 2 - 10, 2020

Come explore exotic Thailand—from the mountains
of Chang Mai to the beaches of Ko Samui

All with the Sober Outside community of booze-free, adventure-loving women

Welcome to our Thailand adventure! Exotic for a reason—Thailand is a feast for the senses. The smell of incense inside Buddhist temples. The sweet honey of a perfectly ripe mango enjoyed on the beach. The crisp tang of ginger in a curry you learn to make during a vegetarian Thai cooking class. These are just a few of the million reasons to love Thailand as a sober traveler.

We'll start off in Bangkok, where we'll meet each other, have dinner, and begin exploring this fascinating country, starting with the night markets. The next day, we will fly north to the mountainous region of Chang Mai. Here, we'll go on a full-day tour of the city while riding in tuk-tuks, the open-air auto-rickshaws that are practically synonmous with Thailand.

From Chang Mai, we fly south to the island of Ko Samui, off Thailand's east coast. Picture turquoise water and white-sand beaches, with low-lying palms bending toward the Gulf of Thailand. This island is known for health and wellness, and we'll take full advantage with morning yoga, vegetarian lunches and ample beachtime.

As much as this trip is about the destination, it's also about the people. This trip is a chance to explore, relax and make friends with other women who are on the same journey of sobriety. It's about enjoying a foreign country with a safe community who understands one another. This trip is perfect for women traveling solo, or for sober friends who want to join a larger group. Our Thailand adventure is perfect for women traveling out of the country for the first time, or for women who will be traveling sober for the first time, or even for the seasoned sober traveler looking to travel with a new group of sober friends. We've got you.

This trip is fully guided: We take care of the hotel and day tours, while also leaving you enough downtime to do your thing. After all, we all like to get away to recharge.

Note: We welcome sober women, women in recovery and any woman who is comfortable enjoying an entire vacation with zero alcohol. We ask that all travelers respect that this entire trip is alcoholp-free for all who participate.

The Destination

Thailand is pure magic, from the first time you meditate inside a Buddhist temple to your first glance of the white sand beaches of Ko Samui. We want you to see and experience it all! It's our goal that you take in as much of the flavor, sound, culture, shopping and dining as possible—all with the safety and comfort of a guided trip experience. This trip will be led by a Thailand expert as well as Brooke from Sober Outside. We take care of all the logistics, transfers and other details, so you can focus on the moments. You're in good hands!

The experience

During this trip, you'll get the best of Thailand, starting in the heart of it all: Bangkok. We will see Doi Suthep temple, and the night markets, before flying north to Chang Mai.
In Chang Mai, we start with morning yoga, followed by a full-day tuk-tuk tour of the city.
From Chang Mai, on day four, we transfer to the riverside town of Pai. We'll enjoy afternoon yoga and a hotsprings visit. On day 5, we'll learn the secrets of Thai cuisine during a vegetarian cooking class. Spend the afternoon wandering town or relaxing in the hot springs.
From Pai, we will fly to Ko Samui where we will have time for more yoga (a total of 5 sessions during the trip), plus beach time, paddle boarding and more.

The hotels

This trip will take you from Bangkok to Chang Mai, then on to the riverbank town of Pai, then down to the island of Ko Samui. In other words, we will be staying at several hotels, so pack accordingly!

In Bangkok, we will stay at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham (or similar).

In Chang Mai, we will stay at Bodhi Serene (or similar).

In Pai, we'll stay at Pai Hot Springs Spa Resort as pictured on the right (or similar).

In Ko Samui, we will stay at Paradise Beach Resort (or similar).

(Note that all accommodation is based on two women per room, unless a single-traveler supplement is paid.)

the community

Sober Outside is a community of sober adventurers. Our trips are for women who are ready and excited to try new things, and to grow their circle of friends. We welcome women who want to continue on the path toward personal growth, expand their visions of what's possible in their lives, and welcome more love, acceptance, gratitude and awareness into their everyday lives. NOTE: We ask that every trip participants have at least six months of continuous sobriety.
